Huntley Area Lions Club Donates Bench to Huntley 158 District Office

At the board of education meeting on May 21, Huntley 158 thanked the Huntley Area Lions Club for its generous donation of a new composite outdoor bench installed outside the district office main entrance. The new bench provides a welcoming and comfortable space for visitors, families, students, and staff, while also serving as a visible reminder of the strong partnership between the Lions Club and the school district.

Each year, the Lions Club collaborates with Huntley 158 to collect used eyeglasses to send to countries in need.  The club also provides access to free glasses and vision exams for Huntley 158 students and families in need through local eye doctors.  

The partnership between the Lions and the school district extends to Huntley High School through the Leos Club, the official youth service organization of Lions Clubs International. As the junior branch of the Lions Club, the Leos Club helps students develop leadership skills, serve their community and make a positive impact through volunteerism. Last year, 80 Huntley High School students participated in the Leos Club. 

Next year, the Huntley Area Lions Club intends to provide free vision screenings to adults and children at the Huntley 158 Wellness and Health Fair in February.
