Important Information
Below you will find some very important information to ensure you can start the school year smoothly. If there are updates, we will notify you via email.
First Day of School
- The first day of school for students is Wednesday, August 13, 2025.
- Start time: 7:30 a.m. Students may enter the building at 6:45 am.
- Dismissal: 2:26 p.m.
Bus Information
Bus route information will be available in PowerSchool starting July 28th. No changes will be made to bus routes from August 4, 2025 through September 2, 2025 in order to ensure consistent route assignments. Please continue to check your child’s bus information up until August 4th as routes could change as additional students register for the upcoming school year. Questions about transportation can be directed by phone to (847) 659-3000 or by email to transportation@district158.org.
Physicals and Vaccination Information
As an important reminder, all incoming freshmen must have a physical on file before picking up their schedule. To submit your student’s medical records or ask questions, please email the Huntley High School Health Office at huntleymedical@district158.org.
- Seniors are required to have 2 meningococcal vaccines unless the last was on or after age 16 yrs. Please note: the meningitis B vaccine does not meet this requirement.
- Incoming Freshmen must submit the following medical documents:
- Recent 2025/2026 health physical exam/Certificate of Child Health form
- Current immunization record on file
- Recent dental exam
Medical Forms
All health forms are available on the Forms page of the District website (under Students & Families). For more information about health requirements and to submit medical records to the school electronically, visit the Health Requirements page of the District website.
Please Note: All physical and immunizations must be submitted prior to the first day of school or students will not be allowed to attend school. If you feel you have an extenuating circumstance that will prevent you from meeting the first day of school deadline for submitting the required forms, please contact the school nurse as soon as possible.
School Security
Our District is committed to keeping students and faculty safe at all times. Part of this is knowing who is in our buildings. Raptor, our visitor management system, will be in place throughout all District 158 Schools. This program aims to enhance our existing procedures for the safety of our students and staff. This system will check visitors against a sex-offender database before granting access to our schools and provide an automated way to track visitors.
Food Service
Huntley 158 provides breakfast and lunch options for all elementary, middle and high school students. The price for meals is based on a student’s fee status. At the July 17th board of education meeting, the board approved a slight price increase for school lunches for the 2025-26 school year. See below.
2025-26 Meal Prices
- Breakfast: $1.75
- Lunch: $3.60
Meal Applications and Fee Waivers
Meal applications and fee waivers must be filled out annually. See links below to access these documents electronically. Paper copies are also available at the district office and in all school main offices.
- Meal applications: Free and Reduced Meal Applications are available online. Note: Meal applications must be submitted prior to submitting a fee waiver form.
- Fee waiver forms: Fee waivers are available for eligible students once a meal application has been submitted. Applications for fee waivers can be downloaded from the Forms page of the District website under Food Services. Forms can be mailed to or dropped off at the District Office (Attn: Food Service Department, Michelle Escudero).
MySchoolBucks: MySchoolBucks allows parents/guardians to make online payments for meal purchases. They can also monitor account balances and student purchases and replenish accounts. Starting August 1st, families can add payments to their child's MySchoolBucks account. To learn more about MySchoolBucks, visit the district website under Departments/Food Services.
For more information about food services, please contact Michelle Escudero at mescudero@district158.org or 847-659-6155.
Fall Sports
The HHS online athletic platform rSchool was recently acquired by a company called Arbiter. Parents/guardians interested in registering their child for a fall high school sport will need to create an Arbiter account. To do this, go to the landing page, click on the Click Here to Register button and follow the prompts to register as a new user. All students will need to be registered and have a current IHSA physical on file PRIOR to starting any sport or trying out. If you have any questions, please contact Rita Castans, HHS athletic director, at (847) 659-6518 or rcastans@district158.org.
Communication
The ability to communicate is vital to success in life. While we want to maintain open lines of communication, we also want all of our students to be a partner in this communication process. Please encourage your student to advocate for themselves and communicate their needs with their teachers and our student services department.
Please pay attention to our school website, as we regularly post important information about upcoming events and general happenings at the high school. Look for information on our Parent Power Team and join the team to offer feedback about what is going well and what areas we can improve. Encourage your student to visit PowerSchool regularly to ensure everything is accurate and there are no surprises. Finally, be an active parent and positively support our students and school.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please encourage your student to check their school email regularly as this will be the primary communication tool used between Administration and the student body. In addition, students may periodically receive text messages from the school or school district if you provide a student cell number in the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
