Important Information

Below you will find important information to ensure you start the school year smoothly.

First Day of School

  • The first day of school for students is Wednesday, August 19, 2026. 
  • Start time: 7:30 a.m. Students may enter the building at 6:45 am. 
  • Dismissal: 2:26 p.m.

Athletics & Activities Registration

Registration for fall is underway! HHS has moved to a new athletics and activities management platform called Bound for the 2026-27 school year. Parents/guardians interested in registering their child for a fall sport or activity will need a Bound account.  Registration for activities is coming soon! Learn more about Bound and how to set up an account by visiting the HHS website. 

Note: All students will need to be registered and have a current IHSA physical on file PRIOR to starting or trying out for a sport. If you have any questions, please contact Rita Castans, HHS athletic director, at (847) 659-6518 or rcastans@district158.org. 

Communication

Please pay close attention to our website and our weekly newsletters, as we regularly share important information about upcoming events and general happenings at the high school.  Newsletters will be sent out Thursday evenings.

While we want to maintain open lines of communication, we also want all of our students to be partners in this communication process. Please encourage your student to advocate for themselves and communicate their needs with their teachers and our student services department.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Students must check their school email regularly, as this will be the primary communication tool used between administration and the student body. In addition, students may periodically receive text messages from the school or school district if you provide a student cell number in the PowerSchool Parent Portal.

Physicals and Vaccination Information

As an important reminder, all freshmen and seniors need to turn in their required medical documents before participating in Material Pick Up. To submit your student’s medical records or ask questions, please email the Huntley High School Health Office at huntleymedical@district158.org.

  • Seniors are required to have 2 meningococcal vaccines unless the last was on or after age 16 years. Please note: the meningitis B vaccine does not meet this requirement.
  • Incoming Freshmen must submit the following medical documents:
    • Recent 2026/2027 health physical exam/Certificate of Child Health form
    • Current immunization record on file
    • Recent dental exam

Medical Forms

All health forms are available on the Forms page of the District website (under Students & Families). For more information about health requirements and to submit medical records to the school electronically, visit the Health Requirements page of the District website.

Please note: All physicals and immunizations must be submitted prior to the first day of school, or students will not be allowed to attend school. If you feel you have an extenuating circumstance that will prevent you from meeting this deadline for submitting the required forms, please contact the school nurse as soon as possible.

School Security

Our District is committed to keeping students and faculty safe at all times. Part of this is knowing who is in our buildings. Raptor, our visitor management system, will be in place throughout all District 158 Schools. This program aims to enhance our existing procedures for the safety of our students and staff. This system will check visitors against a sex-offender database before granting access to our schools and provide an automated way to track visitors. Please bring a photo ID when visiting our building.

School Supplies

We do not have a specific supply list for each class at HHS. We recommend you begin the year with basic supplies (folder, paper, pen, pencil). During the first days of class, teachers will let you know if there are any specific supplies for their classes. If teachers do not give specific supplies, you are free to stay organized as you wish. We are always here to help with organization if you need it!

Graphing Calculators

All students are required to have a graphing calculator. The recommended calculator is the TI-84 Graphing Calculator. Teachers will be using the TI-84 during classroom demonstrations throughout the course. Students will be able to use this calculator for all their high school math courses as well as future math courses in college.

The calculator is available at most retailers. If purchasing a new calculator for your child, we ask that your child bring the reward points (located on the back of the calculator package) to their math teacher. HHS can use the reward points collected to help receive free Texas Instruments products for our classrooms.

PE Uniforms

PE uniforms and locks will be picked up or purchased from your PE teacher during the first full week of school starting August 24th. If you did not pre-order a uniform or you would like a replacement uniform, you can purchase one from your PE teacher at this time as well. 

All incoming freshmen will also have to purchase a PE lock (school-issued) that they will keep for all four years at HHS. This will be given to them during the first week of school. In addition, 10-12 graders will need to purchase a lock from their PE teacher in the fall for $10 if they have misplaced theirs. 

2025-2026 Harmony Yearbook

If you still need to pick up your 2025-2026 Harmony Yearbook, please attend the make-up distribution on Wednesday, August 26 from 4 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. at Door 27.

As a reminder, any family/friend may pick up a student's book with the purchase number or student ID number. We realize many graduates are already off to college, so we recommend a family/friend pick up their book for them.
